Projects

After a whole day of doing very close to nothing, I got two projects started tonight. One is the new CD storage system, which has not been in the works for very long. Donia was kind enough to pick up some wall-mounted racks from Ikea on Saturday, and we put up the first two tonight. They are a little tricky to get up, so I stopped at two to try to make sure that we liked them. I am liking them quite a bit, so hopefully we’ll get those last two up very soon.

The second project has been in the works for significantly longer. We have a very nice frame with Jeremiah 29:11 (“For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord…to give you a future and a hope”), and I have been wanting to get a collection of frames to surround the verse with family pictures. I haven’t been able to pull the trigger on buying frames, but when I was at Shopko Saturday they had frames for 50% off. So I bought 8 or 10, and tonight I laid everything out on the coffee table. It looks pretty good, but I need about another 8 or 10 frames. So hopefully I can find another sale soon.

Other than that, it was, as I said, a quiet day. We went for a walk after dinner tonight and Donia and I talked about Kate getting a little more independent. It is seeming to me like 80% of her sentences end in question marks, and while we don’t want to kill an inquisitive mind, we do want to enable her to find her own answers and probably even do a little boundary testing. Like Donia said, she doesn’t need to ask if she can have a glass of water. It’s an interesting thing to deal with–obviously it’s not something we would be thinking about with either Quinn or Paige. It’s exhausting, but kind of fun, to have the different ages with their different quandaries and issues.

  1. I love getting projects started and completed. You guys sound like Gabe and I though, lots of good idea’s but not enough time (or money for that matter;) The frames will look nice, are you just wanting a bunch to actually fill a whole wall?
Like the blog, still haven’t gotten to go back to day 1 (you should have told us sooner, ya bum!)

  2. Hey, aren’t you in Spain? Yeah, we have a lot we want to do, but definitely not much time.

Sorry I kept the blog under wraps–wanted to make sure I would stick with it, you know! :)
